No Real Goodbye
You are every hue
That brightens every rainbow’s arc
You are in the shine
That reaches Earth from every star
You’re the cooling breeze
That glides in, on waves of sea
You are always near
Through all these ways to call to me
You are in the acorn seed
That grows the mighty oak
You’re in the childlike giggle
After every silly joke
You glow in every dawn
Which brings all my brand-new days
But there’s an echo in each dusk
Of the day you went away
But, how can I hate the rainbow
When its colours shine so bright?
Begrudge the stars their sparkle
When they bring beauty to each night?
When I walk along the beach
I breathe your heavenly force
So I cannot blame the elements
‘Though I miss our life, of course
Gratitude I offer up
For all the time we spent together
I realise this loneliness
Won’t have this hold forever
I know we’re all to shed our skin
Grown wings so we can fly
And I know that all these memories
Mean we didn’t really say goodbye
